Contexte

The study perimeter forms the largest single area of urban industry in Brussels. A vast monofunctional economic zone, it operates on the fringes of urban dynamics, forming a gap between Forest and Anderlecht.

Mission

Based on an analysis of the existing situation and an economic, urban, and landscape approach, the mission's objective was to provide a reference document defining a coherent urban vision and overall programming for this vast territory.

Démarche

Our approach consisted in carrying out a detailed diagnosis of the industrial zone and its functioning on the basis of field work, two surveys of workers and employers, and a workshop with companies. The design of the scenarios was then based on a dual urban and economic approach based on the principles of the circular economy. A back-casting approach was used to provide a long-term development vision.
