Public participation
Context
Citydev.brussels is a major public player in urban development in Brussels. This regional body has two missions: an "economic" one (providing quality space for businesses wishing to set up in Brussels) and an "urban renewal" one (offering mid-market homes for purchase in neighborhoods lacking private investment). With the aim of improving the quality of public action, Citydev is now implementing participatory consultation for these projects.
Mission
The assignment involves designing a comprehensive, systematic participatory consultation framework for CityDev projects, conceived as a common structure adaptable to each specific project. CityTools sis supporting CityDev in citizen consultation initiatives regarding future public spaces at LionCity I (Molenbeek), as well as participatory consultation processes for BridgeCity (Schaerbeek), Citygate II, and Novacity II (Anderlecht), following the completion of similar projects at Citygate I, Lavoisier, MeetCity, Greenbizz, and StarCity.
Approach
The approach involves supporting projects at every stage of their development through a wide range of engagement methods with stakeholders on the ground. This makes it possible to relay their concerns and provide input to the project owners. Given the great diversity of projects, the methods and tools are tailored to each specific context; they are adapted to the various phases : design, planning, construction, and inauguration, and range from information-sharing to consultation.
